We were handed the keys on the 22nd December 2011…We gave it a good scrub, lit some candles and opened the doors that very same night. There was no brand spanking new make-over, just some small changes here and there. The Three Compasses is hundreds of years old, and we’ve strived to stick to its roots as a proper East End boozer. No pretension, just the best local craft beer, delicious burger pop-ups, friendly staff, major sports fixtures on projectors, a lovely beer garden and the best pub quiz in Hackney.

Very excited to welcome James and his new fried chicken based pop-up! Honing his skills in Michelin-starred restaurants, he opened his flagship restaurant, 12:51, in Islington, North London. In 2018 - the same year he won the BBC's Great British Menu - a feat he repeated in 2020. A winner of the prestigious Eater London Chef of the Year and restaurant of the year from Fay Mashalar. You can find James’ 12:51/chefjamescochran scotch bonnet jam nationwide in Asda and Sainsbury nationwide.

These are just a few of his accolades, and now he’s honing those skills at The Three Compasses in Dalston, showcasing everything fried chicken.
